This skillfully hosted exploration of deep holiday traditions in our historic Mexican American barrios is hosted by Tucsonís noted author and oral historian, Patricia Preciado Martin. This uniquely personal and memorable day includes transportation, a yummy lunch and holiday joy; and a lot of fun and history that you can incorporate in your family traditions! Visit barrios, markets, historic sites and more for a glimpse of Tucsonís rich Mexican history, rich Christmas traditions and holiday stories

Noted Tucson author and oral historian, Patricia Preciado Martin, and our hosts and your tour operators, Mary and Piet Van de Mark will be with you throughout your day. Martinís treasured stories are rooted in her personal experience growing up in Tucson and in oral histories she's collected during decades of observing and gathering in the customs of daily life, including religious observations, fiestas and food of her beloved Mexican-American people. Patricia's stories will bring this history to life! Baja's Frontier Tours has produced learning vacation since 1966. Mid-day, we'll pause to savor a traditional lunch! Cost includes comfortable transportation, lots of fun, a full day of learning, a yummy lunch, great photo ops and moderate walking. $139 per person covers it all; it's a great day to share with friends and family!

Patricia Preciado Martin has spent the last 30 years documenting Tucson and Southern Arizona Mexican American culture and history through her non-fiction oral histories and fiction short stories. Her books are all published by the University of Arizona Press.
